The 3 Most Common Applications
Torch-on system
Torch-on is a prefabricated modified bitumen membrane whose compound is composed of distilled bitumen and elasto-plasterers (APP), reinforced with non-woven polyester fabric and fibreglass matt. This Torch-on compound offers good ageing properties, flexibility, durability and elasticity. The lower face or Torch-on is backed by a special polyethylene burn-off film which melts during torching and prevents the roll from sticking to itself. The correct application temperature is visible from the embossed surface of the membrane which is below the burn-off film when the correct application temperature is reached, this emossment melts, also helping vapour diffusion avoiding blistering. Only qualified waterproofing specialists are able to reach the correct application temperature.
The burn-off film also has a printed 10cm square which allows the alignments of the side laps quickly and easily during application. Torch-on offers a high static and dynamic puncture resistant, good tensile strength, both longitudinal and transversal ultimate elongation and exceptional dimensional stability.
Liquid System
Liquid acrylic/bitumen waterproofing is a highly flexible liquid applied emulsion, that when reinforced with stitch bonded polyester, forms a homogeneous seamless waterproofing system. Acrylic / Bitumen waterproofing in conjunction with stitch bonded polyester is suitable for, flashings, parapet walls, hips, ridges, cross & overlap joints and roofing screws on tiled or metal roofs. Acrylic waterproofing is not suitable for areas of long term ponding or under floor tiles.
Hypercrete System
Cement base systems is a synthetic latex additive for cement and mortar mixtures. The addition of cement base systems confers numerous advantages over unmodified mixes such as: greatly improves adhesion to substrates, greatly improves toughness and flexibility, improves resistance to water and water vapour, improves the performance of mortars in thin layers, improves chemical resistance and reduces dusting. Typical applications of cement base modified mixtures include: plaster cement and concrete repairs, water-resistant renderings for internal and external walls, screed for bathrooms, showers and balcony’s water resistant additive for tile adhesives and grouts and as a bonding agent for acrylic toppings.

Sulan Waterproofing is a company based in Pomona, Gauteng, South Africa.
Modus Operandi
Sulan Waterproofing is essentially only applicators operating in the belief that “sticking to the knitting” is a sound policy. All systems applied are of companies who adopt the same policy, i.e. only those engaged in manufacturing, ensuring the product range applied by our company will survive the guarantee period. Should the situation warrant, for ease of clarity, photograph and diagrams accompany quotations which are comprehensive, yet, simplistic.
